本片为导演佐藤寿保在《女虐》之前的试水之作。城南大学心理学实验室的女医师正在进行一项新型镇静剂的-物临床实验，田钿妙子、中岛知子、三上莉香等三名学生充当志愿者。女医师的丈夫生前是个极其出色的科学家，却因自己的实验过于挑战极限而遭到排斥，最终自杀身亡。他们的儿子英治(石川成俊饰)还是一个高中生，但他显然继承了父亲的优秀基因，独立研制出一种可以影响大脑从而减轻痛楚的-物。英治趁母亲不备，偷偷将其注入到实验-剂中，并注射给三名志愿者。在此之后，他偷偷观察着三个女孩的日常反应，期间更与美丽的莉香发生感情。然而，英治的-剂产生副作用，妙子和知子先后发狂，死于非命。备受打击的英治也接近了崩溃的边缘

Either still living with their parents or hardly getting by without help from their families, they are all beset by similar woes: money crunch, joblessness, social isolation. In view of the world’s horrors that Zeynep enumerates in her diary entries, these are minor problems, ‘slight disasters’, but they are all-consuming, at least to the extent of making them cry in the still of the night. However, Umut Subasi’s first feature, Almost Entirely a Slight Disaster, is not a melodrama. With an appealingly light touch, it diagnoses the malaise of a generation that has run up against a dead end, one whose future prospects are indistinguishable from a game of chance. This is a world where astrology, the lottery and online personality tests compete with visa and job applications as life-shaping elements. Fittingly, the film is structured around chance and coincidence, with its handful of characters encountering each other in every permutation, as though there were no world outside this small social bubble.
