Ayşe, Ali, Mehmet and Zeynep are middle-class millennials struggling to make ends meet in Istanbul. Either still living with their parents or hardly getting by without help from their families, they are all beset by similar woes: money crunch, joblessness, social isolation. In view of the world’s horrors that Zeynep enumerates in her diary entries, these are minor problems, ‘slight disasters’, but they are all-consuming, at least to the extent of making them cry in the still of the night. 　　However, Umut Subasi’s first feature, Almost Entirely a Slight Disaster, is not a melodrama. With an appealingly light touch, it diagnoses the malaise of a generation that has run up against a dead end, one whose future prospects are indistinguishable from a game of chance. This is a world where astrology, the lottery and online personality tests compete with visa and job applications as life-shaping elements. 　　Fittingly, the film is structured around chance and coincidence, with its handful of characters encountering each other in every permutation, as though there were no world outside this small social bubble. 　　音乐家西门(蔡枫华饰)生性风流不羁，乘带领乐团赴韩演奏之便，探望开设跆拳道馆之好友大口(王青饰)。大口投其所好，赞成他在韩国尽情开心，唯独不能打其妹阿淑(李玄丽饰)主意。但机缘巧合之下西门巧遇阿淑，一见钟情，阿淑更以身相许。谁知西门对阿淑只是抱玩弄心情，西门假称要返香港，实则回到大口处向其炫耀其风流史。恰巧阿淑来到探望兄长，闻言伤心欲绝，大口却气到七窍生烟。淑独自躲到雪山，西门冒雪崩危险寻觅阿淑。结果，两人几经艰辛脱险后，有情人终成眷属。

　　故事发生在繁华的大都市东京，十四岁的少女阿绿（中村里砂 饰）失去了唯一的亲人，孤苦无依的她在误打误撞之中走进了名为“赤猫座”的巡回马戏团中，就此拉开了悲惨人生的序幕。无处可去的阿绿在马戏团中受尽了众人的凌辱和折磨，沦为奴隶和佣人，日子过得苦不堪言，每一天都是地狱般的写照 。　　就在阿绿快要绝望之时，侏儒魔术师出现在了马戏团中，出现在了她的眼前。侏儒魔术师的出现让快要倒闭的马戏团重现生机，他亦成为了马戏团中最重要的成员。与此同时，阿绿在魔术师的身上找到了久违的温暖和感情，两人决定结婚，双双逃离这充满了痛苦的魔窟。
